Driveaway Holidays Named Australia’s Best Car Rental Wholesaler 2008

It has been a huge month for us all here at DriveAway Holidays. We kicked July off in style at the annual AFTA National Travel Industry Awards. Always a good night, this year was even more exciting than last as we were hoping to walk off (or drive away with) an award for the third year in a row which is exactly what we did! It was a tense wait, with DriveAway being nominated in one of the last categories to be announced – which may explain the amount of wine being drunk by staff members at the table… But our wait finally came to an end when hosts Larry and Kylie from the Morning Show announced us as winners of the Best Car Rental Wholesaler category. Dan, our MD, gave an Oscar worthy speech and the award was promptly passed around the table for photo ops. A great night all round and another award to add to the DriveAway collection General consensus among the ladies….it wasn’t as good as last year…but only because last year’s host was the gorgeous Tom Williams! Maybe next year! After celebrating being NTIA’s Best Car Rental Wholesaler 2008, DriveAway Holidays had more cause for celebration this month with our 20th Birthday on 25 July 2008. There was much excitement amongst staff with lots of birthday cake (from www.sweetdreamscakes.com.au), iPod giveaways to our Reservations team and of course, for older staff members, the joy in saying “It’s our 20th birthday” (it’s been a long time since some of us could claim that!). Since the doors opened for DriveAway Holidays 20 years ago in Manly, NSW (now North Sydney, NSW)-We have become the leader in car rental, car leasing and self-drive holidays.-We have grown from 2 to over 90 staff.-We now work with over 20 rental suppliers with access to rates at over 4000 locations worldwide. Of course, we couldn’t have done any of it without the support of our customers, staff past and present, suppliers, partners…so a big thank you to everyone that has helped over the years to make DriveAway the success it is!

Discover Luxury in a Las Vegas Sports Car Rental

Is it the car that makes one famous? Or is the driver to make the car famous? Or both?
The Ford Thunderbird is an icon of American car that has been manufactured in the United States from 1955-2005. It was Ford’s answer to Chevrolet Corvette, but it was sold as a full-fledged sports car in its debut release. By contrast, Ford called it a personal luxury car, a description, which opened an entirely new market at that time. In his introduction, in 1955, outsold the more expensive convertible for twenty-four to one.
At its inception, the car had many suggestions for a name that range from “Hep Cat”, “Whizzer”, “Castor”, “Runabout,” to nicknames such as “Detroiter”, “Arthur”, “Savile”, “Coronado , “and the ever-exotic” El Tigre “.
The name “Whizzer” was originally to be considered seriously as the name of the winning model before stylist Alden “Gib” Giberson suggested the name “Thunderbird” was accepted. Although it is generally believed that the name comes from the Native American symbol, which is actually a deck area called ultra-exclusive “Thunderbird Heights.”
GM executives see Lewis D. Crusoe, Ford designer Frank Hershey, and Ford chief stylist George Walker is credited with the creation in general, the Thunderbird. The concept was said to be inspired by a sports car that the trio was in Paris. And the sports car that gave the inspiration is rumored that the renowned Jaguar XK120.
Now, with history of travel on all decks, let us return to our first question. What entity reaches the elusive nature of “fame?” Is it the car, riding, or better yet, is it both?
Suffice it to say, the Thunderbird has been an icon of American car that has been owned, driven, and ridden by some of the most impressive of the story and yes, celebrities famous celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Arthur Miller, and Elvis Presley. The most “recent” multitude of Thunderbird owners include Rosie O’Donnell, Halle Berry, John Travolta, and her queen of talk, Oprah Winfrey.
But the list itself can not answer our question. Why, we wonder why these celebrities to buy the car in the first place? Was their choice influenced by the elegance and quality of Thunderbird? Or was it because they were influenced by celebrities that you first bought it? Or was it both? How can we even try to answer such questions?
If I had to put my two cents in (what I’m going to a few words from now), I have a proposal. I think for any of us to arrive at an answer, the first thing we do: We need experience of driving this car. Yes, nothing is better than security experience something firsthand. We need to experience what it feels like to people looking at us, waving, greeting us while we are riding the Thunderbird. There must be a celebrity to actually see one for ourselves, to control the viewers are out: the car or us. Yes, I know that the proposal seems absurd, very minor, even. But then again, maybe not.
This proposal is possible because the Thunderbird is available for rent at any sports, exotic, luxury, and classic car rentals in Las Vegas. And the good thing about this is that many luxury and classic car rentals in Las Vegas are easily accessible through their websites. These websites offer information on cars such, prices and reservations. They also have other models of cars that we can experience first hand to know also what makes these special cars. Luxury rentals classic cars were made to give us the experience of riding a lot of cars without having to buy them. This time we can answer our questions.
Now, to live the lifestyles of the rich and famous does not seem too absurd to most. And the best part about it is, we need not break the bank to score a ride in a car from celebrities such as Thunderbird. No need to buy the car because we can rent. This time, the question of who makes the stars, remains a theory no longer works. This time, we DIB in the very first ride.
The experience is still the important thing. So discover what a ride in a luxury car hire in Las Vegas has to offer. And then maybe, just maybe, get to find out for himself a walk through the lanes of the celebrity. See you in Las Vegas.
